The European Integral Political Salon (EIPS) is a format for inviting a transnational conversation about new, more holistic ways of doing politics, and for transforming our existing political systems towards a new paradigm/integral operating system.

The Salon is conceived as a joyful, interactive and explorative gathering, with both inspirational input from experts and practitioners in the field, as well as space for dialog, sharing and exchange about the implications of a holistic/integral paradigm in the realm of politics. We hope that it will also facilitate co-creative, emergent processes of tapping into a deeper transnational, transrational collective intelligence and wisdom, in service of the larger common good.

Topic in focus in 2023:
Innovative political parties - trying out new ways of doing politics inside our currently existing political systems.

So far, we have heard from VOLT Europe, Integral Politics Switzerland, and the Politics Repair Party (Austria). Read a report about our EIPS n° 1 here.

Topic of this Salon: Metamodern politics challenging the political system

Gert Henning Rasmussen and Michael Frost Jensen from Alternativet (The Alternative), Denmark, will share experiences of the first metamodern party that made it into parliament (in 2015).

Alternativet (The Alternative) has been founded in 2013 by the former Danish minster of culture and founder of the chaos pilots, Uffe Elbaek. Starting from a left-green attitude, it adopted very unconventional strategies during the campaign for the Danish parliament (Folketing) in 2015, thereby challenging typical reflexes and behavioral patterns of partisan competition. For instance, it had the public crowdsource its party program, stepped away from the compulsion, that politicians always have to "know" what to do, and used lots of irony and humor to revitalize politics in Denmark (see photo below).

For more info about Alternativet, see our POP interview with Uffe Elbae, "There is always an Alternative"  and Uffe's article in our recent Special Issue on Integral Politics (translated into German).

Among the questions to be discussed are:
- How would a new political order look like that goes beyond the usual competitive logics and the left/right divide?
- How could new decision-making structures look like?
- How can the current democratic systems be transcended towards a more integral operating system?

The salon will be held digitally over zoom, here is the Zoom link:
