The New Good Life: Applied dialectic Integral
Much of the stability we have experienced in recent decades is not to be taken for granted. A stable climate, an abundance of energy and resources, financial markets that have financed growth, technology that has enabled optimizations, a stable market economy narrative, and relative global peace have enabled a growing world population and a better life for many.
Today, we can see that this growth in population and wealth has come at massive costs: The global North has benefited much more than the South, and nature is showing us that it has tipping points and limits. Global shadows are looming.
We can see how circumstances change and how different people react in different ways to these changes. When people are afraid we often do not show the best we have. How can we navigate these shifts with purpose and in community?
At least in the West, we have inhaled the "religion of consumption": Our understanding of a good life is automatically linked to wealth: housing, leisure, food, clothing.
The NewGoodLife seeks to offer a counter-narrative: Even if the conditions should change, what truly makes life good cannot be bought with money: relationships, experiences, community, meaningful activity. The elements provide us with a map that helps us recognize the gifts for a good life.
- a way to understand shifting circumstances,
- redefine what a Good Life means today,
- and apply practical methods for transforming systems—whether individuals, organizations, or entire fields.
Please join to engage in dialogue how Bernhard can improve his approach and we can improve the Good Life for us and the whole.
