Organisation & Funding
IFIS was created by its founding members in September 2008 as a non-profit association. As such, it is registered in Freiburg / Germany while being international in scope and membership.
The association has a scientific board and a governing board, and different types of members and contributors.
IFIS is financed by membership fees, donations, research funding, and surplus generated by its activities. Donations of any amount are warmly welcomed and can be tax deduced. External funding is sought after for specific projects and events. The activities of IFIS are basically deployed by its volunteering members and partners.
IFIS does not generate any profits which are not entirely reinvested to fulfil its purposes and realize its activities.
